My car was where I cried for 4 years running and still do sometimes after my dad died. And our daughter named her first car Howard ( a red Subaru outback) and despite my aging memory I will always remember that. And road trips are where we had time, locked in the car for hours on end and where magic happened.
Thank you.
With your permission I will be sharing this with my family. ❤️
Howard is the perfect name for a loyal car like a Subaru Outback. I am thrilled that you would share this. You should write too. See you soon walking the dogs. Kieran
Love this! When we were living in the UK anything more that 20 mins in the car was torture. Now in Canada with kids, I can relate and enjoy looking forward to 2+ hour road trips - thinking about the playlist (with trendier input from my 4 and 6 year olds) , most interesting route, finding random spots for coffee or lunch. The best bit is asking the kids who’s car they want to take and they always pick mine (WRX) although my wife vetos them for anything longer than 2 hours. Now I see 5-8 hour drives as a joy and great way to spend time together.
Loved this! Your visceral loathing for electric vehicles made me smile😏
Dear Kieran
I absolutely adored this post.
It hit all the high notes in my life.

Kieran,
What a delightful post. You have given me a giggle and something new to think about. I think I will name my Outback. Thank you.
